Why does Vitals⁺ include Chromium?

Chromium is often included in supplements for its proposed role in supporting normal metabolism and blood glucose balance—especially when paired with B-vitamins.

Vitals⁺ provides 100μg of chromium, as chromium picolinate—a widely used, well-absorbed form that delivers 250% of your NRV. This level is considered safe and is commonly used in nutritional research and supplementation.

🤔 What does Chromium actually do?

Chromium has been associated with:

  • Supporting normal macronutrient metabolism, including how your body processes carbohydrates, fats, and proteins

  • Helping maintain normal blood glucose levels, particularly in synergy with insulin

  • Working alongside B-vitamins to support energy release from food

It’s sometimes referred to as a “glucose tolerance factor,” based on early studies showing a potential impact on insulin function—though recent reviews have called for more clarity on the exact mechanisms.

🤔 Why chromium picolinate—and what this dose?

We use chromium picolinate because it’s one of the most studied and bioavailable forms of chromium. It's also gentle on the stomach and supported by multiple clinical trials.

Although EFSA does not currently define an official Dietary Reference Value (DRV) for chromium, they acknowledge that intakes of up to 1mg/day (1,000μg) appear safe, with no adverse effects reported at that level in healthy adults.

Our 100μg dose is well within this safe range and reflects levels used in glucose metabolism studies, offering gentle support—especially for those looking to optimise energy and metabolic function.
