Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin)Updated 3 days ago

Why does Vitals⁺ include Vitamin B2?

Vitamin B2—better known as riboflavin—is key to your body’s ability to create energy and manage iron levels. It helps power your cells, supports metabolism, and plays a crucial role in reducing tiredness and fatigue.

Vitals⁺ includes 30mg of Vitamin B2—that’s 2143% of the NRV, a significantly elevated dose designed to support modern lifestyles where demand for this nutrient is often higher than expected.

🤔 What does Vitamin B2 actually do?

Riboflavin is essential for energy production and cellular health. It:

  • Contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue

  • Supports normal energy-yielding metabolism

  • Plays a role in iron metabolism, helping your body use this critical mineral effectively

It’s also involved in the activation of other B-vitamins—making it something of a team player for overall nutrient absorption and cellular function.

🤔 Why that dose?

While the official daily reference value is low, emerging research—including findings from the EFSA and Heights—supports the idea that higher intakes help ensure optimal body saturation, especially under physical, dietary, or environmental stress.

We chose 30mg because the maximum amount of riboflavin that can be absorbed in one go is 27mg and there is no upper limit to riboflavin intake. Our 30mg dose helps deliver reliable support, particularly for people on plant-based diets, where natural sources of riboflavin—mostly found in dairy, eggs, and meat—may be limited.

🔎 Curious about the science?

This EFSA scientific opinion reviews how riboflavin supports energy, iron metabolism, and cellular function—and how recommended intake levels are set across life stages and diets.
